Do you have a great networking story for my next book?

Posted on Jun 30th, 2009 by Katrina : Wholarian Katrina
Wholarian_5
I'm looking for stories about networking and connecting for my next book called "The Wholarian Vision." Do you have a story to share?

More and more people are reaching out to new friends and old friends to connect and reconnect. There seems to be a real desire to find people with whom we have common interests. The social networking sites have become uber-popular and people genuinely feel good about making new "friends." It seems to resonate at a deep level to feel like we are part of the whole... hence the word wholarian.

Do you have a cool/fun/interesting story to tell about networking? I would love to read it. I am accepting stories by email from July 1, 2009 - July 31, 2009.

Due to volume I may not be able to respond to your email immediately, but I will definitely respond. I will be selecting stories during the month of August and will let you know then if your story is selected.

ALSO... When you send a story you will be entered into a contest to win a free copy of the book.

I look forward to hearing your stories and if you have any questions, feel free to send me an email.

In infinite peace and love,
Katrina

The Leaf and the Tree

Posted on Jun 2nd, 2009 by Katrina : Wholarian Katrina
The Tale of the Leaf

Once upon a time, in a land not so different than ours, there lived a leaf. This leaf fancied itself to be better than all the other leaves on the tree. It liked its shade of green more than any other shade of green. It liked its shape better than any other shape. And it liked its size a great deal as well.

This leaf  told all the other leaves on the tree that it was better than they were as often as possible. And in so many ways it tried to prove to them that it was prettier and stronger and bigger and smarter and... well you get the idea.

When a mighty wind came and blew the tree and all the leaves would bend together to help the branches from breaking, this leaf would not bend. It forced itself to stay straight so it could prove to the other leaves how strong and independent it was.

When the sun shone on the tree and all the leaves used the light to make food to feed the tree, this leaf would rest in the shade. It wanted the other leaves to see that It didn't have to help out because it was special.

When the rain came and all the leaves let the raindrops fall from their tips to the ground so the roots could absorb the water and nourish the entire tree, this leaf kept the water for Itself. It didn't feel the need to share with anyone.

Now, this tree and most of its leaves were very kind and allowing. They listened when the leaf boasted about itself. They did not criticize or reprimand. They just continued to dance in the wind and drink in the sun and bathe in the rain with joy.

One day a little boy walked down the path by the tree and stopped to admire it. It was indeed a beautiful tree and a slight breeze blew the leaves as if to show the little boy just how wonderfully it could sway. But one leaf stood out. When the breeze blew, the "special" leaf (as it often referred to itself) did not move and this caught the boy's attention. The boy decided that he wanted to remember this beautiful tree for a long, long time and he plucked the special leaf from the tree and put it in his pocket.

Well, the leaf was in heaven. It knew, without a doubt, that it was special because out of all the leaves on the tree the little boy picked it. It MUST be better than all the others. It felt truly special...

But the little boy's pocket was cramped and dark. The leaf couldn't feel the wind or the sun. And later, when it was tossed on a table in the little boy's room it realized that it wasn't quite as green anymore. And it was so hot and dry in the room. And there was a coin holding it down. And the little boy played with another toy and paid the leaf no attention at all.

Thankfully the next day the boy picked up the leaf and held it up in the air, spinning it between his fingers. Again the leave was feeling happy. The leaf tingled with excitement while the little boy walked across the room to a bookshelf and pulled out a big book. The boy opened the book, placed the leaf on a page and closed the book .Then he placed it back on the shelf (just as his mother had taught him.)

Outside the sun was shining on the beautiful tree and the breeze caressed all the remaining leaves as they danced joyfully. They were happy because they never forgot that they were part of the tree. Seeing themselves as separate or different wasn't a benefit at all. The tree helped to feed them and keep them grounded. And together they weathered storms and made a wonderful musical sound when the wind blew. They were connected in a perfect way and this made them happy and content!

We are like these leaves, all connected to a tree that grounds and nourishes us. It helps us bend in the wind and drink in the sun as the branches reach to the sky. We are blessed to be part of the tree. Let's remember to honor each other and the tree each day and not get lost in our "specialness" or "Individuality." Make friends with a stranger. Call an old friend. Smile at someone on the checkout line. After all, we are all in this tree together.

Where do you find the sacred in your life?

Posted on Jan 7th, 2009 by Katrina : Wholarian Katrina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 07, 2009:

The Sacred is in every moment and every action that we choose to see it. As Einstein said: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." I choose to see everything as a Sacred miracle!

In infinite peace and love~

Where would you recommend people give their time?

Posted on Dec 20th, 2008 by Katrina : Wholarian Katrina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 20, 2008:

Wholarian_5

Start with yourself. I believe that 10-20 minutes every day being quiet and peaceful with ourselves is the best time spent. When we can center ourselves and focus on the stillness within, the rest of our actions will come from that place. Then we will know where and how we should spend the rest of our time. "As within, so without."

Just think of the wonders we can create in the world if we come from that place of peace. Our presence in every situation can cause a shift. It already is! Can you feel it?

The Wholarian Vision - A new networking site

Posted on Nov 24th, 2008 by Katrina : Wholarian Katrina
The Wholarian Vision keeps growing. I am so excited to announce that the logo is finished, the trademark process has started and there is now a networking site, too. And to think that only a few months ago the word didn't even exist on this planet.

I invite you all to join The Wholarian Vision networking site at:

https://wholarian.ning.com

The purpose of the site is for everyone to come together in peace and in unity and to recognize our interconnectedness. Let's take some time to see what we have in common with one another rather than to dwell on our differences. Let's say hello, smile and welcome another earth neighbor as a friend.

Wholarian Vision

Love and peace to all of you!

A wonderful friend of mine loves the concept of Wholarianism so much that he incorporated into his newly painted stairs. What do you think?

Are you a Wholarian?

Posted on Jul 4th, 2008 by Katrina : Wholarian Katrina
I woke up a few nights ago with a word in my head. It felt like someone had shouted it out loud in my room and in my half-awake, half-asleep state I said it a few times to myself. Then I told myself I would remember it in the morning and look it up in the dictionary to see what it meant. Thankfully I actually remembered it when I woke up and did look it up in the dictionary.

It wasn't there...

How could this word not be in the dictionary? How could this incredible word not exist in our language yet? How could a google search show no results. Hmmm...

And there it is. The birth of a new word and the word is Wholarian. It means to believe in the whole. Wholarians understand and recognize that they are part of a bigger picture. They realize that their thoughts, words and actions have an impact on the world and the people around them. And Wholarians know that they have a responsibiity to that whole because we all make a difference.

So, are you a Wholarian? Do you realize that you are part of a bigger picture? Do you know that your thoughts, words and actions have an impact on everything around you? Do you understand that you make a difference?

It is my sense that many people here on this Gaiam site are Wholarians. And our example can change the way others think about their lives and their world.

I look forward to hearing from my fellow Wholarian. I look forward to saying hello to others who know they make a difference. And I look forward to our journey together.

Unwritten

I don't "love" a lot of the pop songs that are out these days. Many of them seem to lack a message, or a feeling.

Here is an exception. I have included the lyrics. ENJOY!

Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

I am unwritten,
Can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten, yeah

Oh, oh

I break tradition
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the lines, oh yeah yeah
We've been conditioned
To not make mistakes
But I can't live that way oh, oh

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
the rest still unwrittrn

(Gospel)
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live you life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

The rest is still unwritten

The rest is still unwritten

What have you been thinking about recently?

Posted on Feb 3rd, 2008 by Katrina : Wholarian Katrina
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for February 02, 2008:

Relationships... I've thought a lot about them lately because there are so many kinds. In different relationships I am different things - daughter, sister, friend, co-worker, godmother, teacher, coach, neighbor, lover, peacemaker, powerful woman, vulnerable little girl, student, healer... And the list goes on.

I think there is something to learn in each relationship that I have in my life. I am very blessed to have so many healthy, loving, caring, beautiful relationships and each and every one teaches me a little bit more about myself. I have grown more in the past 5 years of my life through these relationships than I have in the previous 40 years. What a gift!!!

But I still become baffled when a relationship goes astray. In those cases, no amount of love, tenderness or caring make it "good." Of course I learn something there as well when I am able to put enough distance between me and the situation. But, for me there is still a sense of pain, loss and sorrow when I/we can't make it work.

The good news in my mind is that relationships never end. They change, they shift, they move, but ultimately they are still always there. The definition around the relationship may take on a different meaning. The amount of contact and/or communication you have with that person may increase or decrease. But once you have touched another soul, you can never take that away. You are connected forever even if it is just through memories.

I thank God for bringing so many incredible people into my life. Each and every one is a blessing and a chance for me to live life from a deeper place. I hope that I am able to give back even a portion of what I receive. And I look forward to even more incredibly wonderful people sharing my world with me. I celebrate new relationships, I celebrate old relationships and I send peace to those who chose to stay as well as those who chose to go. You have all taught me about myself and I am grateful.
