Are you a Wholarian?

Posted on Jul 4th, 2008 by Katrina : Wholarian Katrina
I woke up a few nights ago with a word in my head. It felt like someone had shouted it out loud in my room and in my half-awake, half-asleep state I said it a few times to myself. Then I told myself I would remember it in the morning and look it up in the dictionary to see what it meant. Thankfully I actually remembered it when I woke up and did look it up in the dictionary.

It wasn't there...

How could this word not be in the dictionary? How could this incredible word not exist in our language yet? How could a google search show no results. Hmmm...

And there it is. The birth of a new word and the word is Wholarian. It means to believe in the whole. Wholarians understand and recognize that they are part of a bigger picture. They realize that their thoughts, words and actions have an impact on the world and the people around them. And Wholarians know that they have a responsibiity to that whole because we all make a difference.

So, are you a Wholarian? Do you realize that you are part of a bigger picture? Do you know that your thoughts, words and actions have an impact on everything around you? Do you understand that you make a difference?

It is my sense that many people here on this Gaiam site are Wholarians. And our example can change the way others think about their lives and their world.

I look forward to hearing from my fellow Wholarian. I look forward to saying hello to others who know they make a difference. And I look forward to our journey together.

Hi Wholarian Katrina. I love new words, and am glad [putting it mildly] to be here for the birth of a new one. Very exciting!

um…I think it's spelled wrong.  I think it should be wholearian.  Only because I read wholarian as who-lar-ian.  I don't mean to rain on your parade, because I love the word.  But I want to make this an official word.  On the other hand I respect your creative rights.  I'm just trying to bring in the whole picture.  :)

Thank you Wholarian Meenakshi. I'm glad you are here, too! Thank you for sharing with me.

And thanks, Don John. Great minds think alike. I also spelled it initially with the “e” in it. Unfortunately, when I showed it to people they pronounced the silent “e” so it sounded like Holy-arian. So, I decided to remove the silent e and hope for the best.

But, I am open to opinion…

If anyone else wants to cast a vote, please let me know. I am open to making this the best birth of a word there ever was!

Like Meenakshi, am joyful to witness the birth of your new word “wholearian” (I casted my vote as well). And I believe I am one as you are! Hugs, Katrina!

Thank you Mila and Brian for your kind and thoughtful words. I will be writing a new blog entry soon to let everyone know what is happening on the Wholarian journey. It is amazing when these things unfold…
